Nigerian Army Announces Promotion of 57 Officers to Generals

The Nigerian Army has announced the promotion of 57 officers to the cadre of General.
They include eight maar.-generals and 49 brigadier-generals.
The latest promotion was contained in a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Chris Olukolade, in Abuja on Wednesday.
Olukolade said the new generals would be decorated with their new ranks soon.
He said the promotion which was the last for this year, was approved by the Army Council.
The new major-generals are the Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army, Brig-Gen. Y.D Pyeng; the Director of Military Intelligence, Brig-Gen. A.T Umaru; the Commander of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps, Brig-Gen. A.B Maitama, and the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre, Brig-Gen. Emeka Onwuamaegbu.
Among those promoted to the rank of brigadier-general are Col. J. A Adejoh; AIG Danpome; B.I Agbab; AC Ebenebe; S.A Songonuga; A Dada-Garba; P.A.T Akem; O.T Ethan; M.A Obio and Y.M Bawa.
